In-Studio Experiential Learning and Internships

If your end-game requires successfully networking with industry executives to build a portfolio that capitalizes on music production, film scoring, stage and live sound; MU’s Minor in CMT brings the network to you. Working with professionals, you’ll encounter first-hand what it takes to transition tracks, loops, beats, arrangements, audio samples and songs into professional projects using industry standard audio equipment and software for mixing, recording, and mastering.

Live Sound Production

Live audio requires a trained ear and practiced hand to massage the nuances of the venue. Like anywhere else, it’s more than just learning to develop your ear, it’s also about developing your ability to adapt to the tools, resources, and equipment that the venue provides. Outdoor concerts, theatres productions, and live-streaming events build your resume as a trusted and versatile technician.

Collaborative Music Projects

CMPs let MU students bring their own artistry to life working with peers and other departments to create multimedia productions that foster teamwork and communication skills in a creative setting. Once on campus, you’ll have the opportunity to book real studio time, produce original music projects and work as a team toward immersive professional audio results.

Design for Video Games or Multimedia

Everything we hear in the world of digital audio requires someone willing to record, edit, setup -- even understand specific equipment needs and how each part of the process will affect the outcome. Creating sound effects, recording foley artists, and building larger audio landscapes and libraries for video games, film and virtual reality are projects that MU makes tangible for you.
